Kaitlin Sobiesiak (she/her) is an accomplished illustrator, artist, and art director from New York, living and working in Brooklyn. Sobiesiak’s work explores unapologetic feminine forms, traversing the spectrum from coquettish subtlety to bodacious bombshells.
Through her paintings, illustrations, and mixed media work, Sobiesiak explores and subverts the construction and expectations of the female form. In the act of turning Frankenstein’s monster upon its creator, her work confronts the male gaze with the consequences of its’ own construction— “You made her this way, now deal with it.” An initial illusion of soft femininity dissipates upon closer inspection, revealing the female form in all its horrible glory.
Sobiesiak will be featured in our exhibition Hysteria, opening April 19th. Back to artists
